The Catechetical Foundation of the Archdiocese of Manila ended the year 2017 with a bang at the Star City during their Christmas Party last December 18, 2017 and started the year with a lot of movement of one's feet and body rhythmically in a pattern of steps accompanied by music through a Buling Buling dance, the official cultural dance of Manila.
Buling-Buling is a religious and cultural event celebrated annually in Pandacan, Manila on the third Saturday of January, in time with the town’s fiesta, to honor its patron, Santo Niño. Adopting this practice, last January 12, 2018, the catechists of the Archdiocese of Manila, CFAM staff and the minsiter himself gathered at the gymnasium of San Carlos Seminary, well dressed in traditional Filipino costumes, danced around the complex of the seminary accompanied by a recorded marching band to express gratitude to God for all the blessings the ministry has received for the year 2017.
In this festivity, the ministry chose another beneficiary, (the 3rd) of the pilgrimage to the Holy Land sponsored by the Catholic Travel. This was done through draw lots and Ramoncito Broñola was the lucky one.
There were lots of things the ministry has to thank God for. Buling Buling may not be enough to express this appreciation. One of the many ways to convey gratitude is the commitment in carrying out the responsibilities entrusted as an educators of faith. The catechists, the coordinators and all the staff must be conscious of their role in the ministry “no ifs, ands or buts”.
