500 Years of Christianity Docu-film launched for renewed Evangelization
Documentary film entitled “The Gift of 500” was launched by the Office for the Promotion of New Evangelization (OPNE) last Saturday, August 6, 2022, at the Auditorium of San Carlos Seminary in Guadalupe, Makati City.
The docu-film, according to the director of the office for New Evangelization Fr. Jayson Laguerta, have three parts based on three different themes– Gift of Christ, Gift of Community and the Gift of Mission.
In his reflection after the film showing, Fr. Laguerta challenged the young people to re-echo the values they learned after watching the film, especially to their fellow youth.
“Ang hamon ko sa inyong kabataan, kasi kayo ang unang nakapanood nito ay sisikapin natin na ibahagi din sa iba lalo na sa mga kabataang kagaya ninyo,” said Fr. Laguerta.
Fr. Paolo Asprer from the Society of St. Paul who took part in the production of the docu-film, explained that our faith is like the cross of Christ. It has horizontal (our relationship with God) and vertical (our service to other people) aspects. He also elaborated that our faith is rooted in the family, the basic unit in society and the community.
“How do we balance the two aspects of our faith? Nasusubok yan sa koteksto ng pamilya at komunidad. Napapailalim yung ating pananampalataya. Napapailalim ang ating paglilingkod sa ating relationship with our family, with the community and society,” he said.
“Ang panalangin na walang paglilingkod ay isang huwad na pananampalataya. At ang paglilinkgod na walang pananampalataya ay isang pagpapagod na walang kahulugan,” he added.
The docu-film “The Gift of 500” is produced under the Archdiocese of Manila- Office for the Promotion of the New Evangelization in partnership with Mary Mother of Hope Chapel-Landmark Makati, Sto.
