On August 21, 2024, Wednesday at 4:00 in the afternoon, the Diocesan phase for the Cause of Beatification and Canonization of the Servant of God, Laureana
"Ka Luring" Franco, was held at the Minor Basilica and Archdiocesan Shrine Parish of St. Anne in Barangay Santa Ana, Taguig City. The ceremony was presided over by His Excellency Mylo Hubert Vergara, Bishop of Pasig.
Bishop Mylo Vergara confirmed the appointments of the members of the Diocesan Tribunal that will be responsible for hearing witnesses and everything that concerns the process, and the members of the Historical Commission in charge of all works, written or any concerns to the Servant of God.
The "Supplex Libellus," or petition, with the brief biography of the Servant of God, was presented and read by Dr. Erickson Javier, the postulator of the cause.
Bishop Vergara also read the decree of the opening of the cause and the appointments of the members of the tribunal, while Rev. Fr. John Albert V. Absalon read the Nihil Obstat from the Holy See. Rev. John Michael Dolom, a Filipino deacon, also composed a song titled “Katekista ni Kristo,” inspired by her heroic virtues.
Lastly, Bishop Mylo Vergara concluded the event with the official prayer for the beatification of the Servant of God and the invocation prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The opening session was followed by the Holy Mass for the 21st anniversary of the Diocese of Pasig.
One of the highlights from the homily of His Excellency Mylo Hubert C. Vergara, D.D., was: “Nakita ko sa kanya (Ka Luring) ang kababaang-loob, kasipagan sa paglilingkod bilang katekista, at pagsasabuhay ng karukhaan na puspos ang pagtitiwala sa Diyos sa kanyang ministerio. Sa tingin ko, parte ng malaking plano ng Diyos na ako’y italagang obispo ng Diyosesis ng Pasig noong 2011 at maging punong tagapagdiwang ng Misa ng Paglilibing ni Ka Luring. Hindi ko akalain na ako rin ang magsusulong ng proseso ng Diocesan Inquiry ng kanyang Cause of Beatification and Canonization. Kami’y di lang pinagtagpo ng tadhana, kami’y pinagtagpo ng Diyos para lalong tahakin ang daan ng kabanalan.” “Nawa’y patuloy nating paigtingin ang ating pananalangin kay Jesus na sa takdang panahon, ayon sa kalooban ng Diyos, ay makilala at maisama si Servant of God “Ka Luring” sa hanay ng mga banal sa langit. Ut unum sint! Amen.”
